Designed by architectural firm Burnham and Root, the Old Chronicle may not exactly be the oldest building in San Francisco, but it’s the oldest skyscraper on the West Coast. In 1905, the building’s four-story clock tower was destroyed by skyrockets during a mayoral victory parade, but the structure stood still even during the 1906 earthquake. The completely restored building now is a luxury residence owned by the Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences.

“I wanted you to feel like you were transported to another time and place,” Scheff says. Over 15 years ago, researchers at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory were in the midst of modeling a future with widespread solar power when they noticed something strange. With lots of solar power on a given electricity grid, the net load — or the demand for electricity minus the renewable energy — would take on a “U” shape. Sky-high demand in the morning would be replaced by almost zero demand in the middle of the day, when solar power could generate virtually all electricity people needed. It’s said that the house was constructed in 1850, but how and where it was originally built is not clear. The official story says that real estate company John Middleton and Sons built the house for Abner Phelps and his wife Augusta Russell in S.F. The unofficial one told by Phelps' great-granddaughter in 1960 says that the house was built in New Orleans and then shipped in pieces to California, because Augustina was homesick. When it comes to keeping backyard chickens, I’m always surprised at how many people have an interest in it. Even though store-bought eggs are cheap and plentiful, there’s something about keeping chickens that remains attractive. Perhaps it’s because too few people have much of a connection with the land any more, yet they crave it on some level. What I do know is that backyard chickens need a good home if you want to keep them happy and healthy. Proper chicken housing and downloadable plans is what this article is all about. So I've started building this, but I realized a major flaw (at least for me).

If you don’t know yet, a chicken tractor is basically a portable chicken coop that can be moved easily around your yard. The first one is because chickens are good for your garden, they produce natural fertilizer, and they eat pests and weeds. Second, if they stay too long on one place, that area will become smelly.

It has a roosting area, a run, a nesting box, and steps for the hens to get in and out of the coop. Well, in this instance, the builder combined the chicken coop with a set of steps that they needed around their property. The guys at MyOutdoorPlans said that you can build this coop in just one day even if you haven’t built anything before.

It’s time to build the nesting box. We’ve previously written in-depth about different styles of nesting boxes and how to build one here. Wood is cheap, fast to build with, durable, and easy to paint. Before starting to build your chicken coop, you should prepare a list of all the tools required. Individuals looking for a movable chicken coop may want to consider these downloadable plans to make a chicken tractor coop. One side of the coop includes two heavy-duty handles that allow you to push it to the desired location in your yard.

Make the Most of Your Flock with Backyard Poultry!

Most people want to build their own chicken coop to keep costs down. The coop is lifted off the ground, stopping predators from digging underneath. It is also surrounded by chicken wire to further stop predators from sneaking in. It also has an enclosed run, letting the chickens roam in a safe space.

It is critical to move the coop often so you do not allow the area under the coop to become eaten down to damage the vegetation. Also, if you have a small lot, you can quickly develop a yard with patches of bare spots throughout the yard. A padlock should be used on every opening in your coop (e.g. entrance, nesting box, cleaning hatch) to keep all predators out. I purchased galvanized chicken wire which was 24″ tall and 25 feet long.Proceed by fitting mesh to each part of the frame which doesn’t have a panel or door. After you’ve finished painting, to fence your coop use either hardware cloth or chicken wire. Now the coop entrance panel is complete, let’s turn our attention to the side panel.

Modification options are integrated into the plans to allow for a more customized finish. Bring a touch of the Wild West to your yard with these Rhode Island Red Eye Saloon chicken coop plans. The front of the coop, which is designed to look like an old saloon, features a full-size access door and two easily-accessible egg bins. To the rear of the nesting area is a spacious wire-enclosed space for chickens to run, play, and forage safely. The downloadable plans for this chicken coop include detailed step-by-step directions, color pictures, a materials list, and other helpful tips for construction. With downloadable plans from Etsy seller Digital Tutorial Studio, you don’t have to decide whether to dedicate yard space to gardening or raising chickens—you can do both at once!

Since we had not anticipated adding so much automation, the coop did not have a protected space for some of the equipment. We decided to turn one of our nesting boxes into a utility closet. The utility closet houses electrical outlets with a breaker switch and the mechanical and electrical timers.

Then all you have to do is build a large enclosure and secure it with chicken wire and safe latches so no predators can get into your coop. This coop is a smaller coop that is meant to accommodate around 4 chickens. If you are only keeping a few hens for eggs for your family, then this coop would probably work great. But for those of us that raise around 20 birds, finding the right coops can be a challenge. These plans are made for more birds so hopefully you’ll like the way it looks.

Inside the newly-renovated 'Brady Bunch' house, made to look exactly like the set

So HGTV enlisted the help of viewers to help find authentic 1970s artifacts that were in good condition, taking the designers on a cross-country search for items. The house wasn't used for interior shots during the show's filming, meaning that HGTV was going to have to renovate a house that never included things like the iconic stairway in order to project the Brady look. According to the Wall Street Journal, the sale is $2.3 million less than the $5.5 million asking price by HGTV when the home went on the market in May.

Fight Hunger, an initiative that helps kids living with hunger in the U.S. through No Kid Hungry. Items from the restored home, including customized pieces like the green floral living room couch and the credenza with a 3D printed horse sculpture, will be available for purchase. Discovery-owned network rejuvenated the facade and gutted its interiors — adding a second story to meticulously re-create the show’s living room, kitchen, bedrooms and yard that all previously only existed on Stage 5 of Paramount Studios.

It was only used for exterior shots.

A graduate of Rutgers University, he is the married father of two kids who believe he is ridiculous. “Reportedly it is the 2nd most photographed home in the USA after the White House. There were concerns that the staircase could not be installed in the house without ruining the front elevation, which everyone recognizes from the exterior shots.

And over a year later, on September 9, 2019, A Very Brady Renovation officially premiered on HGTV, bringing in a whopping 8.1 million viewers for its first episode—an all-time record for the network. Each week, the limited TV series focuses on different spaces within The Brady Bunch house, worked on by a different combination of Brady kids and HGTV stars—culminating to incredible reveals. By the final episode, HGTV viewers will see the entire house unveiled with all its ‘70s charm. The same episode also featured the construction of the Brady's signature avocado green-and-orange kitchen.

Redfin shows similar-sized homes in the same zip code ranging from $2.2 million to $7.8 million, so if a completely updated, state-of-the-art look combined with '70s design are what you’re into, the price isn’t too bad. HGTV documented the process on “A Very Brady Renovation,” which featured the six actors who played the Brady children. The cast, alongside HGTV hosts Drew and Jonathan Scott, worked to gut the house while the crew painstakingly reproduced the set’s rooms and 1970s decor — down to the cabinet hardware. The online listing for the house invited buyers to “own a piece of pop culture history” and showed images of its detailed and polished 5,140-square-foot interior, which has five bedrooms and five bathrooms. HGTV will use a portion of the proceeds from the sale for 250,000 meals for Turn Up!

Unforgettable homes that housed your favorite fictional TV families

It’s impossible to know what Londelius would make of the home’s current fate — as the centerpiece of HGTV’s latest reality show, “A Very Brady Renovation,” which debuted earlier this month, the highest-rated premiere in the network’s history. The Good Bones hosts built the bathroom with a tub, small-scale yellow tiles, and added a toilet—not originally seen in the sitcom 'cause it was the '70s. Also, as part of the second episode, Good Bones stars Mina Starsiak Hawk and Karen E Laine tackled three rooms—the boys’ room, the girls’ room, and the Jack and Jill bathroom. This time, Olsen was paired up with Lookinland and the two went thrift shopping. They were successful in finding a red lamp and blue drums for the boys’ room. Trahan’s real estate agent, Marcy Roth at Douglas Elliman, told the Wall Street Journal that she thought Trahan was joking when she said she wanted to buy it.

After spending the summer on the market, the Studio City property just closed escrow. Historic-home enthusiast Tina Trahan, whose husband, Chris Albrecht, was once chief executive of HBO, scooped up the sitcom gem for $3.2 million. Eklund|Gomes real estate agents Marcy Roth and Fredrik Eklund represented Trahan in the purchase. It took a grueling seven months to transform the home, including adding over 2,000 square feet to the back of the home to account for each room.

In 1994, “Brady Bunch” creator Sherwood Schwartz told The Times that the show’s producers chose the house on Dilling Street because it “fit a place an architect would live.” The HGTV renovation pretty much assures the exact opposite. Pulling double duty, The Fords also created the family room, concentrating on the ‘70s-style wood paneling and plaid-patterned daybeds. Knight and Plumb stepped in when it was time to search for additional furnishing, like the chairs. The final detail was contributed by Plumb, who painted her own versions of the street scenes that were seen on the show.

‘Rivers in the sky’ have drenched California, yet even more extreme rains are possible

On it, hosts Drew and Jonathan Scott worked with the cast members who played the six Brady kids to make the interiors look like the sets on the show. The show takes Londelius’ original structure, completely reconfigures almost all of the existing spaces, then adds 2,000 square feet of additions in the back, including a second story. The additions had to be built in a way that didn’t alter the home’s cinematic street profile.

Although the house was built in 1959, every room has a retro vibe—just in case you couldn't tell from the bedroom. But the house he built at Dilling St. (what’s left of it), to some degree, tells the story of architecture at midcentury. The Times didn’t write much about Londelius during his lifetime (barring a few notices of his involvement in professional organizations and an announcement that he was designing a beauty salon in Sherman Oaks). Nor did the paper run an obituary when he died; that fell to the Chicago Tribune, which published a very short brief.

All six original Brady kids also made appearances on the show—their first time reuniting in years—to lend a hand (and knowledgable eye) to the redesign. In 2018, HGTV looked to meld the two realities and bought the house at Dilling St. for nearly double the original asking price. The channel outbid Hollywood celebrities, including former ’N Sync member Lance Bass.

Once HGTV started filming A Very Brady Renovation, a video released by the network showed the six Brady kids sending out an all-call to help source recognizable items from the home. The treasures that have been found are rounded-up in a A Very Brady Scavenger Hunt gallery, but there's still more memorabilia to be found. It's also located on the Los Angeles River, which gives the home "a unique street-to-river orientation," according to the listing.

The network bought the property in 2019 for $3.5 million and spent almost $2 million in renovations to gussy up the house for its series, “A Very Brady Renovation,” hosted by Drew and Jonathan Scott. Its entire conceit rests on transforming the house on Dilling Street — whose interiors in no way match the interiors that Paramount designed on its soundstage — into the home that viewers know from the show. Indeed, the house is filled with iconic mid century furniture, including avocado green Knoll-style Tulip chairs and a pedestal table in the kitchen with a matching refrigerator, low slung credenzas, and the Mondrianesque paneled screen above the staircase. Built in 1959 with Late Modernist architecture, the house was used only for exterior shots during the sitcom’s five-season run from 1969 to 1974, followed by decades of syndication that cemented the mixed family of eight in the annals of American pop culture.

Many real estate experts say it’s priced aggressively to sell and the buyer will likely be a toss-up between TV or movie producers who may want to use the location, or private buyers who may be fans of the show. The Barrys modeled their Brentwood property after the Honolulu home of David Noble Barry III’s father. Japanese and Hawaiian influences abound throughout the property, which features original oak floors, high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, sliding Shoji screens, built-in cabinets, and an engawa, a traditional Japanese wood flooring surrounding the home.

“Our whole goal with this space was basically to turn the lights on in the room, bring in the garden that’s outside, and kind of have an experience of a breath of fresh air,” Brosio says. “I really feel like the dining room is a forgotten room,” says the designer, who set out to prove how vital the space is to a home. The room is anchored by a Riva 1920 table made with the wood of a 50,000-year-old Kauri tree, which Levine surrounded with seating for 12. Another seating area with views of the garden was designed for more intimate dining, games, or meetings, and it’s illuminated by a Murano glass chandelier. At the far end of the room, Levine installed a lush purple sofa with cocktail tables, creating the perfect spot for drinks, dessert, or relaxing with a cup of coffee.

This is in addition to an original pool in the main house which was completed in 1959. The current (and second) owner of the home is entrepreneur James F. Goldstein. It was originally built between 1961 and 1963 by famed architect John Lautner, who was one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s protegees. Made from poured-in-place concrete, steel, and wood, the 4500 square foot house has five bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. There were two floors which boasted at least 140 rooms with ceilings up to 11 metres high. The principal entrance was along the via Sacra coming from the Forum. The property’s grounds are dotted with an unusual species of palm trees, and the lush landscaping includes several eye-catching tropical specimens. In fact, the home was primarily used as a filming location for only the first season of the show. For later seasons, the Barrys loaned NBC the home’s original blueprints so the network could build a replica at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where fans could tour the house until it was torn down in 2003. “The Golden Girls” house is for sale for the first time ever—and for a famous property, some might say this 2,901-square-foot, four-bedroom house in Los Angeles is a bargain, listed for a mere $2,999,000. Today, the structure is a California Historical Landmark and the pride of Monterey. Following Nero's death, and with his successors wishing to distance themselves from this unpopular emperor, the building was abandoned and stripped of much of its precious marble for reuse elsewhere. Most of the structure has disappeared under the foundations of later buildings such as the Baths of Trajan or lies buried.

To cope, CAISO is selling some excess power to nearby states; California is also planning to install additional storage and batteries to hold solar power until later in the afternoon. Transmission lines that can carry electricity to nearby regions will also help — some of the lost power comes from regions where there simply aren’t enough power lines to carry a sudden burst of solar. Hermogeno and designer Lynette Chin brought in a mix of vintage and new furnishings in the family room, incorporating performance fabrics for durability. “[We made] sure that it was a really usable room, that it didn’t just look nice,” Hermogeno says.

California just got too big for its carrying capacity — at least in the sprawling, ranch-house lifestyle that so many people covet and symbolizes the state’s easy-living persona.

In 2022, the state wasted 2.4 million megawatt-hours of electricity, 95 percent of which was solar. (That’s roughly 1 percent of the state’s overall power generation in a year, or 5 percent of its solar generation.) Last year, the state did that in just the first eight months. “Our team is very selective about what events we bring to life at the house. 61 Free DIY Chicken Coop Plans & Ideas That Are Easy to Build

It’s ideal for a large flock of chickens as it can hold over 25. The Feather Factory is 20 square feet and can house 7-12 chickens. It has a sloped overhanging roof and opening hatch windows on each side of the coop. There is even an opening in the roof for ventilation purposes. This coop was built to be like Fort Knox, keeping out predators. It has a locked outside the door for egg collection and a slanted steel roof.

The run is an area where they get fresh air, scratch and peck and hunt for worms off-leash. They do not sleep in our house; the coop keeps the chickens safe at night protected from predators and elements. Five years ago, my husband and I designed and built our backyard chicken coop. The design was based on photos of a friend’s chicken coop and ideas we gleaned from other online coop designs.

In case of that extended vacation, we also wanted it to be uncomplicated for our neighbors to take care of the chickens. To us, that meant daily egg collection with minimal servicing needs. Find small chicken coop plans for small flocks without compromising on their comfort or larger chicken coop plans with added features for bigger hens. Although our solar-heated design looks fancy, it’s really only a  box made of 5/8” plywood with trim added. My design sits on legs that raise the structure off the ground, and there are two reasons for this feature.

We’ve rated this as one of the more difficult builds because it takes a lot of time and effort, but the results are great. If your chickens spend most of their time in confinement, you may want to consider adding a bathtub to their home. Sadly, many municipalities do not allow chickens in the town or village or only allow a certain number of hens. There are likely to be rules about where you can place your coop also – such as a minimum of six feet from the neighbors’ fence. Oftentimes you will have a hen that likes to sit in the doorway, so the extra space allows others to come and go.

The details from here are what will make your coop fun and personal. You could choose a theme … the possibilities are endless. Your hens will need a comfortable spot to lay their eggs in the coop. Our neighbors’ 10 chickens all share one five-gallon bucket filled with straw. Sometimes two chickens stuff themselves in it at the same time! We generally aim for about five birds per nesting box in our coop.

It’s raised 32 inches off the ground to deter predators and is very functional in that you can do all the cleaning, access, and getting eggs without going inside. It doesn’t have to be large, and all you need is some dirt, diatomaceous earth, or sand. You can use a mixture of these elements to create a lovely dirt bath for your chickens. Dust baths also provide an element of entertainment for your chickens. If you’ve ever seen a chicken bathing themselves, you’ll notice they appear relaxed and content.

How To Plan The Perfect Chicken Coop

Lady Goat’s chicken coop is perfect if you are looking for something cute to put in your backyard. It has a run directly underneath which is small and compact. The run is enclosed too so you do not have to worry about letting the chickens out and locking them in at the end of the day. However, the chickens still get to roam and stretch their wings under the protection of mesh.

During the build our friendliest chicken Snowball showed up to help and inspect my work a lot. These plans also come with 24-7 email support and a 30 day money back guarantee. The Poultry Barn has a 8 foot wide by 10 foot deep footprint on the main building and a 4 foot by 7 foot 3&1/2 inch side run. It was beautifully created by a well-experienced carpenter who has tried and tested the design. It is important to also have proper ventilation and insulation, so your chickens can stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Ana created this chicken coop plan for his friend, Whitney, who managed to build it in 30 hours in 4 days with only 3 people working on it. In this post, Ana listed every tool, material (and the size), and the 3D SketchUp pictures that you’ll need to build the coop. There’s no way you don’t know who Home Depot is, they’re the pros when in comes to home improvement. In this chicken coop plan, they listed every material needed and how to buy them (from their own store, obviously).

Hardware cloth is stronger than chicken wire and when held in place with heavy-duty wire staples provides good resistance to the most determined creatures. Every opening should be covered, even small spots up by the ceiling; any opening is a possible entrance for a predator. I'm a Mom of 3 boys, food fanatic and home cook living in Northern Kentucky. On this site you'll find simple recipes, made from scratch that are easy to follow; from comfort food to healthy and everything in between. My passion for food grew from traveling overseas and cooking with my husband. I used T1 plywood siding panels which I think turned out great.

You can typically put about 10 to 11 chickens comfortably and safely in a 4×8 coop. This is based on the idea that each hen needs about three to four square feet. This simple box-shaped design has been finished with cedar shakes to give it a beautiful finish. The nesting box is on the interior, with a hinged door to access the eggs. It has ventilation above the large front door and sweet house-like windows. The Chicken Mansion is well built and attractive looking coop, complete with a porch.

— and HGTV’s bold move to dramatically renovate it into the ultimate Brady enthusiast’s abode ensured that would not be the case. In 2018, HGTV looked to meld the two realities and bought the house on Dilling St. for $3.5 million, nearly double the original asking price. The channel outbid Hollywood celebrities, including former ‘N Sync member Lance Bass. Brown added that no intellectual property rights of "The Brady Brunch" were included in the sale but that Trahan, the home's new owner, was a big "Brady Brunch" fan who also happened to be a collector of architecturally interesting homes.

So in order to obscure the new construction, the design team lowered the home’s foundation by a foot — a massive undertaking. The first episode of the TV limited series also focused on the heart of the home—living room, dining room, and the staircase. Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady) offered her consultation to the Property Brothers for the staircase—approving 11 stairs instead of 12.

The home has now been re-landscaped, in an attempt to keep trespassers and avid Brady fans at bay. So if you plan to visit the house to get a glimpse into the life of a Brady family member, you may be disappointed to see that the property looks a little different than it used to. The iconic floating staircase is begging to be the backdrop of your next family photo. The teaser images and video shared by HGTV and the show's stars didn't let viewers down.

HGTV will be be selling the house with much of its contents, including the green floral living room couch and a 3D-printed replica of the series’ horse sculpture. So for those with $5.5 million to burn, the listing is being managed by Danny Brown at Compass. The network documented the process on “A Very Brady Renovation,” which featured the six actors who played the Brady children. The cast, alongside HGTV stars, helped gut the house while the crew painstakingly reproduced the set’s rooms and 1970s decor — right down to cabinet hardware. Originally built in 1959 with Late Modernist architecture, the house was used for exterior shots throughout the show’s five-season run from 1969 to 1974, followed by decades of syndication, cementing the mixed family of eight in pop culture.

Aside from Trahan, other interested parties who had come to see the house included potential buyers who wanted to turn the property into a rental home. Props like the Brady family's tan rotary phone needed to be located and restored. The contrast between modern technology and communication decades ago became apparent to viewers as the renovation took us a step back in time. Practically obsolete technology made its comeback over the course of the show.

From the home's exterior to the grand entrance to the retro home decor, the limited TV series pays close attention to every single detail, with guidance from the Brady kids who know the home better than anyone else. While you wait for the next episode of A Very Brady Renovation, check out some fun facts you may not have realized about the house—and the show itself. When the famed 1970s sitcom home first appeared on the market, Trahan reportedly told her agent she was "obsessed" with the single-story, mid century ranch style house, according to the Wall Street Journal. Danny Brown, the listing agent, wrote that the 5,000 square foot Studio City home was “meticulously” rebuilt and designed to replicate the Mid-century Modern set of the show — which began airing in 1969. "As part of the massive renovation, HGTV invested $1.9 million and added 2,000 square feet to the property’s original footprint, including a full second story," a statement from HGTV said.

Never mind that the show did take a wrecking ball to the house — the entire back of it (making for some awkward spaces as a result). It may not look like a stereotypical McMansion (for that you’d have to add infinitely more eaves) but HGTV’s “Brady Bunch” house is now certainly McMansion-scale. As a design writer and Gen-Xer who was reared in the ’70s and ’80s when “The Brady Bunch” seemed to permanently occupy at least one of the 13 channels we had on our non-cable television, this seemed like a show made just for me. I was ready for a bubble-gum design show hellbent on channeling the wood-paneled Modernism of my youth. Last, but not least, the third episode showed viewers how the Good Bones hosts, plus Olsen and Lookinland, reimagined the backyard.

Her blog is currently in progress but give her a follow on Instagram @emmaaafarrow to keep up with her latest happenings. The Brady Bunch is about a blended Los Angeles family that consists of six children. The Brady Bunch was filmed all over the city, as well as in the city’s Paramount Studios which is located on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. A city was never specifically mentioned as to where the Brady’s actually lived, but it’s pretty much a given that they reside in LA. There’s always mentions of the city’s main sports teams such as Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Dodgers.

In the second episode, “Here’s the Story,” Hidden Potential host Jasmine Roth worked closely with Barry Williams (Greg Brady) to create Mike’s Den from three existing spaces—living room, hallway, and kitchen. The actor fully immersed himself in the process, helping with demo, construction, and furnishing, including updating a donated drafting table. Mike Lookinland (Bobby Brady) joined them for a bit to help build the home's two-sided fireplace. The renovations, which included adding the famous staircase up to an entirely new second storey, reportedly cost $2m – much more than the initial $350,000 estimate, according to city records obtained by People magazine. "No one is going in there to make pork chops and applesauce in that kitchen. Anything you might do to make the house livable would take away from what I consider artwork." Together with her husband, former television executive Chris Albrecht, Trahan is something of a collector of iconic real estate who has, over the years, been buying up floors of Stone Manor, a colossal lakefront property in Wisconsin that's nearly 125 years old.

Actress Maureen McCormick—who played oldest sister, Marcia Brady—shared that she would have loved to have bought the house for herself. Trahan said she thinks the network overpaid for the house in 2018 when it became embroiled in a bidding war with former NSYNC member Lance Bass. According to WSJ, homes on that block in Studio City are typically priced between $1-$3 million. Carolina A. Firstly, I can’t stress enough the painstaking detail that went into bringing the original Brady Bunch house back to life in just 307 days. Everything has been recreated down to the finest detail and I mean the absolute finest. Soon after HGTV bought the Brady Bunch house, HGTV took us a trip down memory lane with the limited series A Very Brady Renovation which brought together the actors from the popular TV show to renovate their fictional childhood home. However, the inside of the home looked nothing like the rooms seen on the show.

Barry Williams, who helped do the restoration, said he hopes viewers of "A Very Brady Renovation" will get "an experience of what this house represented." “It’s the definition of surreal," he added. "They created a home that we only have in our memory now because it was just a set." Eve Plumb, who played Jan Brady on the 70s TV show, helped re-create Alice's bedroom. All six of the original kids on "The Brady Bunch" reunited for the first time in decades to help renovate their TV home together. In 2019, standing outside Dilling St where a staggering renovation of The Brady Bunch house was now complete, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti officially recognized May 23rd as ‘Brady Bunch day’.

” Spencer teamed up with Plumb to recreate Alice’s room, which is located at the back of the house. The two went thrifting in New York City for small items, made their way to Connecticut to pick up furniture, and Plumb even added a needlepoint mini pillow made by Ann B. Davis herself. The house’s new owner, Brady Bunch fan Tina Trahan, told the Wall Street Journal that the property was “the worst investment ever” but said she had plans to use it for fundraising and charitable events, and as a luxury rental. When HGTV bought the home, its interior bore no resemblance to the place where audiences watched the Brady children grow up.

Trahan, a collector of unusual homes, told WSJ that she plans to use the home primarily for fundraising and charitable events. Monday’s first episode of “A Very Brady Renovation” reunites the “Brady Bunch” kids with their TV home. In their quest to copy, the show’s hosts have become curiously oblivious to aesthetics. Which gets at the weirdness of uncritically rebuilding a fictional house from another era. In other words, Londelius’ split-level house on Dilling Street had already been shaped, to some degree, by television before “The Brady Bunch” location scout ever laid eyes on it. In the fourth and final episode, titled, “A Sunshine Day on Clinton Way,” Williams worked with Roth and Flea Market Flip's Lara Spencer to recreate his legendary room.

Every furnishing was also chosen to meticulously match what was in the original episodes. When the show's producers chose the house back in 1969, it was only for the exterior. But after the massive renovation, the interiors are an exact match to the original "Brady Bunch" set.

Smooth Jazz Music Festival at Sea

jazz cruise 2024

This year we are expanding our musical offerings to reflect more of our cruise programs and music. These benchmarks of excellence were cultivated by Anita E. Berry, founder of The Jazz Cruise, during her participation in cruise line sponsored jazz cruise programs during the 1980’s and 1990’s. When learning that the cruise lines were abandoning these programs, Anita took up the challenge of producing the very first full ship charter dedicated to “straight-ahead” jazz. More than 23 years later, The Jazz Cruise remains the only full ship charter of that theme and is the standard by which all music charters are measured. Currently the Millennium Class ships of Celebrity Cruises provide us with the best opportunity to present our programs.

Jeff Hamilton

He was later tapped by the late pianist Mulgrew Miller to join his ensemble, Wingspan. Acclaimed bassist/bandleader Dave Holland invited Duane to play with his big band on a pair of Grammy® award-winning albums. He also recorded and played with Elvin Jones, John Hicks, Curtis Fuller, Louis Hayes, Randy Brecker, Avery Sharpe and Nicholas Payton. Royal Caribbean® elevates holidays to holi-yays at any time of year.

Scenes From Past SuperCruise Sailings

The Jeff Hamilton Trio featuring Tamir Hendelman and John Hamar, has been a pillar of The Jazz Cruise for nearly two decades. For years, Jeff has served as the untitled co-producer of The Jazz Cruise aiding our staff with insights and ideas that have made The Jazz Cruise so special. Duane crossed over to play and record with Alicia Keys, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Wu-Tang Clan, and Kirk Franklin. He has played the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center, as well as toured throughout Europe, Japan, and the Middle East. His most recent albums as a bandleader are Things of that Particular Nature and DE3-Live at Maxwell’s, both on Sunnyside. Trumpeter Duane Eubanks is a multi-talented force whose fiery blasts and sweet distinctive sound carry his horn into a musical space that defies categorization.

And make every moment count at our private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, with record-breaking thrills and endless ways to chill – for families and couples alike. Famous for delivering funny and pointed comments about current events and taking performers to task, some of the best people-watching is found during an Alonzo Bodden show. After years as producer and house tenor for HighNote Records and touring with the late Etta Jones, Person is now known as a master of popular songs played in a relaxed, highly accessible style reminiscent of the great Ben Webster. Kevin would go on to work with jazz greats such as Art Blakey, Slide Hampton, McCoy Tyner, Sam Rivers, Roy Haynes, Dave Holland, Ron Carter and others.

In addition to working in other bands, Kevin became the leader of his own groups that have toured all over the world. He has recorded more than 15 albums as a leader, plus several as a co-leader with artists like Orrin Evans and Stanley Jordan. The Jazz Cruise lineups are comprised of nearly 100 of the very top jazz musicians in the world. Over the years, several musicians have become mainstays of the cruise and return nearly every year.

Anchored by an amazing main theater (Celebrity Theatre), which seats more than half our guests at one time, those ships have significant additional performance venues (Sky Lounge, Rendezvous Lounge, Foyer, Pool Deck). And, as we saw upon our first inspection of the ships, there is an amazing bonus venue. With a little imagination, we convert the main dining room (The Cosmopolitan Restaurant) into a performance venue most afternoons and a gorgeous jazz cabaret every evening.

Kevin, along with brothers Duane and Robin, was born into a musical household in Philadelphia, PA. His mother, Vera Eubanks, was Kenny Barron’s first piano teacher. We try not to share too much of this information now as it undermines the surprise element, but here are three types of events we produce just for the sheer enjoyment of doing so.

It may be a Happy Hour Hang or a fine dining experience, but you can be there with your favorite performer. Reservations have finally opened for our 20th Anniversary cruise! We have managed to get some of the best of the best in the jazz world to come perform for you on our jazz cruise. Just to let you know though, this year, pricing is temporary and subject to change at any time.

With Royal Caribbean, your cruise fare includes access to most of the ship’s attractions, select dining venues and all of the entertainment onboard. If you want to make your experience even more all-inclusive, you can opt for drink and speciality dining packages that cover drinks and dinner at some of the most exclusive restaurants in the fleet. On top of all that, the cruise line presents frequent limited-time offers and seasonal sales, making it easy to score big savings when booking your holidays. Known worldwide for its first-class jazz cruise programs, Jazz Cruises applies its skills and commitment equally to land based events. For many years, Jazz Cruises has presented The Smooth Jazz Cruise on Land in St. Louis.

He has taught at the Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp, the Banff School and Rutgers University, as well as hosting master classes at many colleges and universities. In addition to concert touring, Kevin has begun presenting at conferences around the country not only as a musician but also as a motivational speaker to people of all ages.

The purchase of Travel Insurance/Trip Protection is strongly encouraged. If it were our choice, every guest would purchase trip insurance. Your investment for the cruise should be protected, so we urge you to purchase trip insurance. Please remember, restrictions do apply, so to secure the broadest coverage be careful to apply for the insurance in a timely manner.

Programming The Jazz Cruise starts with nearly 100 world-class musicians, scheduling them in exciting configurations for over 200 hours of music, and presenting the music festival-style over seven jam-packed days. The Jazz Cruise ’25 will feature more headliner performers than ever before and many of them will be participating in the legendary jam and all-star sessions. This amazing combination of factors creates our very own Straight-Ahead Jazz Heaven. With a vast selection of stunning scenery as our backdrop, and an incredible array of all-star talent providing the entertainment, this week-long ‘feast for the senses’ gives guests an experience they will never forget.

Another large group of musicians are frequent, though not perennial participants, and, whenever possible The Jazz Cruise features a musician who is either new on the scene or simply new to the cruise. This combination of musicians creates excitement and enthusiasm, while maintaining a solid base upon which the aura of the cruise is built. No jazz program would be complete without cocktails, wine and food. The Jazz Cruise takes that to another level by pairing these events with performers who serve as hosts.

The Payment Plan election is made at the time of the Reservation. For the last several years, Robin has divided his rigorous performing schedule with the Mingus Big Band and his own groups with teaching at The Oberlin College Conservatory where he serves as a tenured Professor of Jazz Trombone. He has sailed numerous times on The Jazz Cruise as an All-Star but returns in 2025 to perform with his two brothers. Kevin has written scores for both TV movies and full-length independent feature films and he’s appeared on various TV shows from Hollywood Squares to Celebrity Family Feud (with his sister and two brothers!).
